Talk to Apple - Crazy Dave

You should be emailing Apple to get them to re-instate these features in the OS, rather than being forced to resort to third-party hacks.

I wonder how many people are only using Application Enhancer to restore functionality that Apple has removed from its OS over the years. Many APE utilities simply restore OS7.5 functionality, usability and ENJOYABILITY to OSX, so WHY DID APPLE REMOVE THE FEATURES IN THE FIRST PLACE?!?

Two things I have trouble living without which were available in OS 7.5, way back in 1995:
- WindowShade (I don't know why people think the the default yellow-button minimise-to-dock option is any good, all it does is fill up the dock with identical windows and I have to drag my mouse alllllllllllll the way down and alllllllllllllllll the way across three monitors just to bring them back up again)
- Classic Window Management (I HATE the way I need to alt-tab to an application or click on its icon in the dock just to bring all the open windows forward. For some applications in particular, t's a ridiculous way of doing things and Apple provide no way of defaulting to the original OS7.5 behaviour)

Apple seem to go out of their way to make life difficult for developers. Every single time there's a software update for MacOS it requires virtually every piece of Mac software in existence to be either modified, updated or completely re-written. I don't blame Unsanity if they have gone out of business. Dealing with Apple is a losing battle. I have boxes and boxes of useful OS9 software that never survived the transition to Mac OS X, because the companies just bit the bullet and decided supporting the Mac is too expensive. First they had to re-write their software to accommodate PPC, then they had to re-write it for OSX, then they had to re-write it to support Intel, now 10.5.3 is causing more issues. Imagine if you had to repair your house every 2 or 3 years just so it wouldn't fall down. You'd get sick of it after a while and start thinking about moving somewhere different. OSX is in such a constant state of flux, each update brings new problems with existing software. It's not the fault of third-party developers, it's Apple's fault.
