Firewire blows away USB2 at real world speed and.. - Lickableunix

You may be right about this software, haven't tried it yet, but I'll say i've found with both Mac & PC that USB2 external drives are painfully slow in every case, by comparison to Firewire (IEEE 1394.) Also, If the drives are more than 2/3rds full or so, it can not only be a major slowdown, but increases the risk of hardware failure of the drive. Drives need 'scratch space' to keep from working overtime. 'Not sure what else may be bogging you down.
best wishes.

low speed problem - balancedview

-not sure if this will help, but,
I was reading up on the rsync command, which I believe iBackup uses, and in its FAQ page, it says that if a rsync operation seems to always recopy everything, it might be because of incorrect use of the -t parameter (timedate stamp).
