While I agree that this is a great program, I would be distressed if Apple bought it: development would slow to a crawl and it would then be discarded once development lagged so far behind that no one uses it any more (remember Sherlock/Watson?).
The best way to keep this program good is to support the developers and buy licenses for all your computers and your friend's computers..
