I've used MG for years and I agree that it's great. As for printed recipes: assuming you have a scanner that includes OCR software, that's the way to go. It's certainly more of a hassle than the website imports, but doable. Depending on the quality of the scan and OCR, you will have to do some clean up. Just save the file as a text document, select the text, and import using the MacGourmet Service.
