I'll be adding some options to tone down the UI in the next revision - hopefully quite soon. Seems that people either love the new look or hate it - I've gotten lots of email saying how beautiful it is, and a number of comments complaining that it's distracting and/or reduces usability.

Thanks, Jon, for all your hard work over the years. I've been a registered D.F. user since OS 8.x days. Before that, I was a registered Boomerang & Super-Boomerang user.

I'm glad Apple left well enough alone and didn't steal your business as they have done others'. That speaks volumes about Apple's respect for your work.

I agree with the OP. The gray theme harkens back to Iron Curtain days. A less austere exterior would be welcome -- at least as an option.

Both are available in 4.0.1b1 - St. Clair Software

Please check out version 4.0.1b1 - you can have the dark HUD theme, or an "old-style" gray sidebar hanging off the side of the file dialog.
