Why is this labeled "Shareware?" - gaseous1

Shareware is a "commercial" undertaking - it's never been defined as free or not-for-profit. The advantage is that you can try before you buy, and that you don't have to pay for advertising, packaging and distribution.

Why is this labeled "Shareware?" - Brass Hammer

The advantage is the developer doesn't have to produce packaging, pay shipping, etc. Theoretically, that means a lower price to the users. Not here, however. $35.00 is just crazy. This is why piracy flourishes.
