Yes, the support could be a whole lot better. However, to say it's the worst of the worst is just laughable. For many people PowerMail will do a better job than Apple's Mail.
The main feature for me is that PowerMail doesn't get in the way of me and my email. It just works very nicely usually, with the occasional quirk a couple of times a year. But all the other contenders have their quirks so no big deal.
It works especially well with SpamSieve with the built in Spam buttons.
Check out the other email apps, but try the PowerMail demo that now support 1000 messages in the DB, I think. So use it for an account with that volume during a month or two. It's worth the tryout.
