X.X.X updates require no payment. As a matter of fact, the only X.X upgrade to Photoshop that was a paid upgrade was 5.5, as best I can remember.
If you were willing to pay us, on the other hand...

I agree. Be forewarned when contacting Adobe direct, as they gave me coflicting infomation. I too had spent a great deal of money on 4.0, then upgraded to 7.0 with Mac OSX, and now it would have been good to know that I would be REQUIRED to spend additional $$$$ to upgrade to the newest operating system before I laid out the cash. I may have held off on upgrading my MAC.Thursday, November 29 2007 @ 07:40 AM PST

In addition, Adobe customer service flip flopped as to eligibility for another upgrade as apposed to a full purchase price.
1st. we were informed that since we had already paid for an upgrade from 4 - 7 that we were not qualified to upgrade to CS3 and would would have to pay full price of $699.99. Reasoning? The consumer is only allowed one upgrade. After insisting to speak with a higher authority, we were told he was unavaliable, but that we now qualified for the upgrade for $199.00 from 7 - CS3 standard. This is happening while we are looking at another price of $169.00 There were 3 flip flops in a long frustration conversation

I believe that's the upgrade price from CS2.I updated my Photoshop CS3 with this update and it didn't require me to make any payment.
