You can easily overcome the problems with Dynamic IP assignment by your ISP if you have a domain name. Use one of the services such as DynDNS or EasyDNS and run one of the DNS update applications (which you can find on version tracker). Then all you need to do to access your server is remember the DNS name. I personally use EasyDNS to ensure that two of my servers are always up to date, I use the DNSUpdate application on the servers to keep the EasyDNS data uptodate.

So, reflecting on your post title "Interesting, but has major problems" it would seem that the problems are now with the application. Perhaps your post title is somewhat unfair.
