Absolutely right. For some reason, it seems that it didn't work on the first occasion I tried it, but after a subsequent reload it did behave as I'd hoped it would. I can't explain the anomaly, but I'm pleased that it does work as expected.
The developer also appears now to have fixed the resolving of aliases, which is great. Unfortunately, for me, it just causes the application to hang (maybe because of the large size of the menus it's trying to build). Building menus also can take a long time, whereas the Dock didn't use to have a long pause before you could use it.
