You can find an 3rd Party Package on The Joy of Scripting (link) which works with Leopard. Sources are included, with Xcode you can adjust anything you want.

Didn't try this, but did you try to install this using the advanced installer (while in "Add Printer" dialog right click on the button bar, edit, and add the advanced button. Most "special" printers are added this way.
