Handbrake a better option for DVD to MP4 - erikku3000

I agree that DVDRemaster is a great application, especially for people who want to keep the original look of their DVD (i.e. menus etc.), but want to delete extraneous content.

Your comments about the application being the only one that will put subtitles in an MP4 file are simply not true: I've been using Handbrake for ages now and in my opinion it's a much better option because it's FREE. HB will allow you to convert into MP4, MKV, AVI, and OGM from a commercial DVD (without having to rip it to your HDD). Within those containers you can choose to compress the video using ffmpeg, XviD or H264 and the audio using AAC, AC3, MP3, and Vorbis Audio (depending on the container). And of course, if you would like to burn the subtitles directly into the finished movie you can. The only thing it won't do is give you an external subtitle file... at least I don't think it can. One last thing, for advanced users, HB gives all sorts of encoding options for the H264 codec allowing users to fine-tune their encodes.
