I agree this is a great application though I only used for recording talk on my powerbook. However in order to grab music from iTunes and turn that AIFF you only have to use iTunes builtin conversion if you have the track saved there.
Of course you may talk about streaming radio, but you didn't make that clear. In that case Audio Hijack could be used, but I'd prefer to save it to the native format with another tool first, then convert it in iTunes or with Max.
Or does AH get the sound in the original format in iTunes? My impression it it gets the sound from Core Audio bus, which may be great in execution, but is still one step away from the original sound stream, isn't it? Which may mean very little in actual sound, especially if you're tossing the recording in the end, but I'd rather be as safe as possible when it comes to sound quality.
