You could just capture the audio from the DVD using Audio HiJack Pro or similar.

ffmpegX doesn't rip anything from protected DVDs, audio or video. You need a different program to do that, such as MacTheRipper. Once you have ripped it from the disc, you can put it into ffmpegX to encode it into MP3 or something. Two steps: rip, encode.

Another option is to use Handbrake, which does handle protected DVDs and rips and encodes in the one program.
