The Upgrade Charge Is Quite Unsettling and Callous to NWX Supporters! - Christopher Midville

If you look back at the comments for Nisus Writer Express version 1.1a, you'll find I posted a comment expressing my anger and disappointment at the fact that Nisus didn't provide an upgrade path for users of Nisus Writer 5. To get upgrade pricing for NW Express you had to have bought Nisus Writer 6, which was not a very appealing package since it didn't include any "must-have" features that (in my opinion) would justify the upgrade cost.

The lack of an upgrade path meant I had to pay full price for a NW Express that didn't have anything like the functionality of Nisus Writer 5.1.3. So despite having been a longtime Nisus user, I decided to give up on the company at that point.

I suspect that many Nisus users may have jumped ship at that point. That could explain why Nisus has apparently chosen to squeeze as much money out of those customers they haven't managed to drive away.

It makes me glad I said farewell to Nisus when I did. (I noticed they don't offer an upgrade path from Nisus Writer 6 to Nisus Writer Pro, either.)

Seems they are still at it. They also sent an e-mail response to my query saying they weren't forcing me to upgrade and some other nonsense that did not address the issue of upgrade rip-off. The response was quite arrogant!

I wish you would re-post your comment so it isn't hidden as a response to mine! This appears to be such a haughty, un-hearing, gouging company! Possible purchasers should hear from as many who experienced it as possible, repeatedly!

Especially when NeoOffice is FREE... and is the most compatible with MS Office on the PC.
