Yes, very good question. I tried to put the uncompressed "Flash Player.plugin" file/folder (actually an OSX package file) and removed the "Shockwave Flash NP-PPC" plugin from Mozilla's Plug-ins folder, and lost all Flash functionality. Only got it back by putting the old plugin in the folder again.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

I've just been in contact with Adobe Support. They will be posting a Mac OS Classic (not OS X) compatible Flash Player plugin shortly.
