Apple's spotlight only works when each piece of data is in a separate file. That's the way it is architected, so it applies to FileMaker or anything else. If Entrourage allows spotlight, then it is because they save a single file for every email message you have.

Would you like FileMaker to make a separate file for every row in your database? If so, then spotlight could index FM databases
