Both applications seem to me overpriced for their relatively obscure utility, but my wife says I'm a dinosaur who has been run over by inflation.
I hardly think an icon is a reasonable criterion for evaluating any application, however--none of them these days seems comparable to the dogcow of ancient Macintosh--I suspect our correspondent never intended to "put this politely" after all.
