Review of Most Recent Version - george2x0_dotmac

I am having the same issue with my Yahoo messenger. It had been working fine for the first week or so, suddenly 2 days ago the scrolling started. I have uninstalled and re-installed but the problem remains.

Review of Most Recent Version - hmeisner

I started experiencing the same problem of continual scroll back to top of chat window with each im. I uninstalled and reverted back to an earlier version but the problem continues. It seems likely to me that something on the yahoo server side is causing this relatively new problem. If so, could it mean that Yahoo is actually working on an update for Messenger for Mac? Probably not, but at least i can hope.

Since it is difficult to conduct multiple chats (or even one for that matter) with the constant return to top of window with each im, I have started using Adium instead of Messenger. Adium is solid and easy to use, especially with the added convenience of tabs for different chats in progress. Plus it records chat text very nicely. Someday maybe we'll be lucky enough to have a Messenger for Mac version which works well and offers the same level of features as the Windows version, but I'm not going to hold my breath for that to happen.

For what it's worth, as soon as the problem with the scrolling back to top of window began, I emailed the support group for MessengerforMac making note of it. Needless-to-say, I never received any reply to let me know they are aware of the problem and working on it. I believe the bottom line is they just don't care. And it shows. Wouldn't it be great if a Yahoo representative would post a message here to let us know they are working on the problem or maybe explain why Messenger for Mac has seen almost no new development or features in the past year. Yahoo, don't you want us to like you or have some basic respect for your software?

Scrolling to top - Studio G

The annoying scrolling behavior is actually a result of the new Safari 3 WebKit. If you use the Safari 3 beta uninstaller package and revert to Safari 2, Yahoo scrolling will return to normal. You can hardly blame Yahoo for this, since the new WebKit broke a lot of things.

And I'm debating with myself whether Yahoo should have come out with a quick patch to fix it, or if they are right in waiting for a final release of Safari 3 before committing to any changes. Then again Messenger 3 (with Voice promised but never delivered) has been in beta for how long now? sheesh...
