The 3.6.2 update may fix this problem. You shouldn't have needed to pay for updates to see if it were fixed: just download it and demo it with up to 3 pages and see if it's fixed.
For me, 3.6 changed the way captions on photos are made (to a way that seems backwards to me). I found out by trying the demo and have stuck with 3.5 since the new version would make me have to change quite a bit of stuff without any real benefit for my purposes.
