You have perhaps restarted while verification or before the end of maintenance!

You might try going into System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard, and make sure to uncheck the box for "Use the F1 - F12 keys to control software features."
That, rather than OnyX, is the likely culprit.
