skEdit - tersonodesign
skEdit is a different approach, being basically a text editor (and a very good one). Personally, I've always tended to use BBEdit, but it's basically the same approach.Coda, however, is a slightly different animal - it is more of an IDE (integrated development environment) than the approach taken by skEdit or BBEdit, offering the text editing facilities that you're used to PLUS an excellent CSS-specific editor and integrated FTP, SSH, reference materials and site management tools in a unified interface.
Ultimately, it will depend on how you like to work, but for me, Coda fits my workflow very well - I find myself doing everything (with the exception of editing graphics, obviously!) in a single app rather than having to juggle BBEdit, CSS Edit, FTP, a couple of Finder windows and a terminal prompt all at the same time. skEdit - thestuntman
Number one reason: buzz. I'd never heard of skEdit... and now I'm in love with Coda, purchased it, and have no desire to try something that may made me think I made a mistake! But (and I say this without having tried skEdit), if you try Coda... it just feels right. It's elegant and easy, yet powerful. But mostly, you have to hand it to Panic... they came out with a roar, and give a nice presentation. And once you try it, and you're hooked. skEdit may be the same way... but I didn't know about it back when I had a strong need for it.Reply to This
