can the clowns calling for a name change please stop now - Saichology

OK OK. Whatever. It seems that an unrelated software package named "synergy" did exist for a couple of months before this product was released.

FIVE YEARS AGO.

The developer is NOT going to change the name, and he would be stupid to. All you people claiming that you're "confused" by this - I can't imagine how you managed to even put your socks on, let alone some found your way to this website to complain - but just stop, ok, please?

The name is not going to change, it is never going to change, can you please just stop now and go away. This happens to be a great piece of software, you are serving no useful purpose to anyone, you are merely polluting this website, now just stop, please. I am sure you can find another absolute non-issue somewhere else to complain bitterly about.

This whining about NOTHING is just unbelievable... grow up!

If you want to do the right thing, you'll change the name... - iayork

It seems we are all in agreement that whichever application was first released has rights to the name "Synergy". No one has agreed that. You've made that claim, but that's not how it works. Two products are allowed to share the same name if they're not attempting to confuse people about their function. Apple computer was allowed to share a name with Apple Music when Apple Computer wasn't in the music business. You've made the claim that "people are confused" about this, but there's no evidence whatsoever that anyone is in the least bit confused. If one Synergy does want exclusive rights to the name, then whoever preexists does not get automatic rights to the name. There is specific trademark law covering this. If neither Synergy has trademarked their name, and if they haven't attempted to protect it, then neither has "right" to it. In particular, whoever used it first has very little legal impact. In other words, for all your bluster and claims, you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Finally, if one Synergy does want exclusive rights, it would be up to them to pursue it, not some loudmouthed random idiot posting to an unrelated third-party site. I suggest you stop embarrassing either Synergy, and stop embarrassing yourself.

If you want to do the right thing, you'll change the name... - MacMan314

Guys! Guys!

I just heard about this program called Microsoft Windows, and it has me really confused. My house has had windows since long before computers were invented! My grandfather owned this house, and they were called windows back then! I can't use this OS because it has the same word as something else! Please contact Microsoft and ask them to change it. Also, sign this online petition to make them do the right thing.
