Updates problem - vrlind

auto update has problems for me after I started using OSX 10.4.8
did it work with the OS but not after the Onyx?

Hi,

The LaunchServices database is a part of Mac OS X. Its functionning is regularly modified by Apple not by OnyX. OnyX reset only this database. You can read in the OnyX Help:

LaunchServices database: This option allows the updating of the LaunchServices database and corrects a problem in the contextual menu's "Open With" list so that deleted applications are no longer shown and so that duplicates are not displayed. It allows you to remove also the links between documents and applications, as in the rebuilding the Desktop under Mac OS 9. When you launch a new type of document for the first time, an alert message appears. You can open the application choosen by the system, display this application in the Finder or cancel the opening document. When opened, the link between this document and the application executed is stored in LaunchServices database.

Updates problem - ted.treen

Anything that stops or hinders Norton running on OSX is a help. Norton is the kiss of death to OSX and should NEVER be used.

Don't use Norton. It stinks. If you have Tiger, it isn't even compatible.
