The current version of the iPod shuffle software is 1.1.5 - which was just released this past week. Prior to that, it was version 1.1.4. There is no "1.2.1" to speak of for this model iPod, it doesn't seem...
Note that this Reset Utility is intended to restore the iPod back to factory conditions - wiping all content, and loading the latest version of the firmware. The 1.0 version of the utility released in late Oct included that 1.1.4 software; this 1.0.1 release includes the new 1.1.5 software.
You appear to be very angry that the utility didn't resolve the problem you had - but keep in mind that if your unit doesn't exhibit the specific problems indicated in the ReadMe, then the utility will probably not benefit you. Several in this discussion area have had great luck bringing their shuffles back from the dead using this application - and we can only hope you are able to encounter the same.
