Better late than never, sorry! You can download an updated installer, which will read from the DVD and prevent the post-CD Key crashing, from the developer website. The patch will then work fine:

http://www.macsoftgames.com/products/ut2k4/support/UT2004-mac-updated-installer.tar.bz2
