Efficient? You have got to be kidding me! That is the last word I would use to describe Nikon Scan. I've been using Nikon Scan on my LS-8000 for probably 5 years. Silverfast cost about $900 at the time so I took a pass, but now that I own Silverfast I wish I had been using it from the get-go. Many hours of wasted time with Nikon Scan would have been saved!
Nikon Scan is pathetic:
1. Streaks galore on my LS-8000 unless I use Super Fine Scan mode, tripling the amount of time it takes to do a scan.
2. No way to load a custom scanner profile.
3. No way to load my preferred color space, ProPhoto RGB.
4. Nonsense suggestions for color spaces.
I've actually forgotten most of my gripes now that I've made Nikon Scan a thing of the past.
Powerful but unstable. Shame to Nikon. - gskibum
