not clear why you would use this ... - pg99--2008

let me see - a product does exactly what it says it does, extremely well, and you give it 2 stars and accuse "astroturfing", just because it's not free?

for one, Audacity does not do what ASD does - ASD provides >real time< speed and pitch change from both files and CD's, along with many features to make that useful to both practicing musicians, rehearsals, etc. Audacity requires you to open the file, then batch-process the file. it's a completely different product, with a completely different intent - it's a sound-editing program.

as far as the astroturfing charge - every musician i know who uses slow-down software uses ASD, and loves it. some of them wish it were cheaper, but that's the developer's prerogative. as best i know, there are no free apps that approach the functionality of ASD.

if you want to make an uninformed comment, go ahead. but giving a good product a bad rating like this is inexcusable. you should have your posting privileges revoked.

i give you zero stars for the quality of your posting

Short version... ASD is NOT intended to be an "editor" in ANY way shape or form. it is hands down the best at what it does. It has been invaluable to me for YEARS... far and WAY beyond the price.

I think this complaint should be disregarded, the guy obviously doesn't have a need for the niche that ASD caters for - that much is obvious from his ignorance of its use.

Actually, "this guy" has used ASD and does have a need for a product that does this. Others do it better, that's my opinion.

The vindictiveness of the posters who say that my posting privileges should be revoked for giving ASD a low rating reinforces my suspicion of astroturfing. It's bizarre that you don't just disagree with me, but really attack me!

It's also remarkable that, for doing so little, ASD goes through so many upgrade numbers. That gets comments like mine off the front page. I suspect that the developer would rather that people not know about Audacity and Soundhack and similar products and would prefer casual browsers to see comments on new versions only.

I've downloaded ASD for years now, everytime they come out with an update. Never paid yet because every version has crashed. I'm not impressed with ASD at all. Thanks for the information on Audacity, I'm downloading it now. RT
