Actually, "from whence" is redundant. "Whence" already includes the "from" part.

Already in the kindergarten children are pushed to pay attention and avoid pleonasms.. at least here in the 'old world' where culture is.. cultivated.

The phrase "from whence" is tautological although, because of it's frequent misuse, has now become acceptable. Nonetheless, to some including me, the pairing of "from" with "whence" is still an irritant.
