It sounds to me that you seriously lack the tecnical background to troubleshoot that problem. I bet it's just something simple like having to allow Firefox access through the XP SP2 firewall.

You should always read the Release Notes when you install software, in which case you would have seen (as previously mentioned) this:
'Some firewall software may silently block Firefox from running. Most firewalls will ask you whether to allow a program to connect to the Internet. It's important that you always grant Firefox access. If you deny access, you must go into the firewall's configuration program and re-allow access. Even when disabled, some firewalls deny access. Here is some more information on configuring your firewall.'
which includes a link to instrucions on how to do this.
