ffmpegx is free, and nearly as easy to use - momo_the_monster

I admit that Visualhub is easier to use than ffmpegx, but I also feel that ffmpegx takes minutes, not hours, to set up.

If you don't want to spend the dough, use ffmpegx. If you consider yourself a newbie and don't want to spend the time setting things up at all, visualhub smooths things out for you.

Ease of use is often worth the $$ - mikexryan

Hummm.... don't count on RealMedia. Licensing begins at $50,000 and we're only talking about one video format. The VH developers have to pay all the other media owners, including MS for WMV, too.

But I would very much like to see a high quality multi-media conversion program and VH is going in that direction!
