If you had ever tried the old TeXtures, you would know why - scienceman2
I use TeXshop all the time, but miss many of the features that TeXtures brought to the equation to make it easier to use, especially if you write all the time and produce article,s papers or books with any kind of volume. Why indeed. I used Textures in classic (r.i.p.), was a very neat TeX editor. However, I don't recall if at that time we had any other TeX alternatives for Macs. The situation is different today and Textures developers will have to work very very ... very hard to convince me to pay $100 when I can get an awesome editor like Texshop for free (and there are other Mac editors as well, and we can install many of the classic unix editors at will).Tuesday, October 16 2007 @ 09:15 PM PDT

Speed. Try it. Writing a document long enough to take a full second to typeset may take you a year or two, though. (Aim for about 500 pp.)More seriously: This alpha is little more than the raw TeX, without any features for navigation let alone editing. It's ok to test, but not to use.
