Unfortunate/improper Political Slant - wgscott

When I first opened safari I found it full of various bookmarks for things like CNN and other 'news' organizations that shill for the state department. I haven't looked to see what 'propaganda' is contained in this, but I can guess that the problem is that it doesn't produce the usual global corporate and pentagon pro-war cheerleading swill.

This is not a new issue- there are a lot of various bits of software that I've really wanted to like but come preloaded with a message (usually Christian) that I don't agree with. I've had Christ shoved down my throat all my life and I'm sick of it, but if someone wants to limit their audience by embedding their bias, they have that right. I haven't yet seen what the preload is on this software, but I'm assuming it is a liberal slant, as non-liberals would, of course, be the first to cry foul about something insignificant.

Unfortunate/improper Political Slant - sojc--2008

Despite the rapidly eroding freedoms in the United States, its citizens still have the right-- and I would argue the duty-- to speak their mind.

I could see objections if Democracy came preloaded with hardcore porn or snuff films, but political content? Hardly...

The program is called "Democracy" -- something anyone complaining about video content would know little about. It's slant is evident in the name of the application, and who needs that?

There are no videos imbedded in this application. There are several feeds or channels that demonstrate how one can subscribe to rss feeds which do not force you to download anything, or even look at them.

As is the case with any set of demo bookmarks, I tend to delete them before bothering to look.

After reading this comment, I decided to download this application and investigate the claim of improper political slant for myself.

Let me just say, I was shocked by just how correct “st3phen” was.

Upon first load of the application, I was presented with the appalling musical opening to the early 90's series "Blossom". Most of you may think this to be a harmless, prime time jewel from the past. But, upon closer inspection, you’ll find it’s embedded with hundreds of wacky, far-left messages.

In the very first scene of the clip, is that a sombrero I see? Obviously, Blossom supports amnesty for illegal immigrants and loony liberal ideas such as a living wage. My housekeeper lives just fine off the $2 an hour I pay her now.

In another scene, you see her dancing with a young gay man wearing a leather jacket (everyone knows that only gays and Tina Turner wear leather). Obviously, Blossom is trying to subliminally implant the idea in our children’s’ minds that being gay is an acceptable lifestyle choice. Last time I checked the Bible, it was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

And I almost fell out of my chair when I saw her dancing with another girl dressed in red - obviously a communist. Everyone knows that communism is the Middle English word for terrorism so, basically, Blossom is inviting Saddam Hussein to launch another terrorist attack on our nation.

Despite all this, the final insult for me was the scene where Blossom is tap-dancing on the piano. If you look carefully at her feet, you’ll notice she’s actually spelling out, in Morse code, “Universal Health Care for everyone.” Sorry Blossom, but in our country you either sink or swim. That was the philosophy that Jesus brought to our country when he founded it with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln and that’s the way it’s going to stay.

I am so disgusted that anyone would create an application and embed it with political slant and opposing opinions. Everyone knows that a democracy only becomes more complicated when you have more than one viewpoint. Let’s keep this political propaganda off our Macs and on Fox News where it belongs.

People like you controlling widespread media with their neocon minds is the exact reason why this Application is needed and succeed.

Of course this is just my opinion, but my own slant is progressive, and so of course I approve of Democracy Player's slant, and wish more developers felt the same way. We have gangsters in office and running our corporate media, the internet is not so "tame" as these giants profess to be, and I'm glad of it.

If you don't like it, go watch Fox!
