sound volume, display brightness & eject keys on keyboard not working - wgscott

I have a third party (MacAlly) keyboard and I noticed that on the SECOND reboot it prompted me, only after logging out again, to identify the right and left keys next to Shift (which is what it did when I first plugged the new keyboard in). It might be worth rebooting a few times and logging in and out.

another restart and the keys are working! - AceofThumbs

Okay, right after the first post, I started with the easiest possible fix and, indeed, after another restart the keys are working again!

I should have tried that before posting. Then again, maybe it will help someone else. Everyone should try a restart or two before bothering to reinstall, deleting caches, etc...

sound volume, display brightness & eject keys on keyboard not working - bfowl32

My volume control does not work except when there is an external speaker plugged in. Although I hear the chime from the internal speakers on boot, iTunes, etc., will not play through the internal speakers.

I have been working with a technician for three days now and have tried about everything he suggested, all without success.

I even tried erasing my hard drive and putting the original 10.4.5 system on to see if that would correct the volume control for internal speakers, but still, no success.

Now, I find I am unable to load the dmg of OS 10.4.7. I almost get a full download, and then it fails.

What gives????
