Try it again - Adreitz

Something probably got corrupted due to the initial freeze. You should try re-downloading the update and installing it. I bet it'll work. Especially since you reinstalled OS X.

I once had an Apple software update install something incorrectly, causing me to be unable to boot to the Finder. I had to boot up on my other drive, tracked the problem down to a bad framework, replaced it, and restarted. That fixed it, and when I reapplied the update (since the replacement framework was an older version) everything was fine.
