The TechTool Pro 4.1.2 update worked fine on my dual 1GHz G4 in OS X 10.4.6. And TechTool launches and runs properly after the update.

somers96, your problem with your password is probably a coincidence with rather than caused by the TechTool update. You can set/reset your computer's password by booting from your OS X install CD or DVD. The option will be listed in one of the menus (which one depends on which version of OS X you are using) after the installer launches. If there is more than one account listed in the Password Utility's pull down menu, be sure to set the password for the one you intend to boot from regularly. You will not need your current password to do so. Thereafter you should be able to login as usual.

Run Home Slow, it's not exactly clear what you are doing. The TechTool Pro update is not intended to update the TechTool CD. If that's what you are trying to do, it's no wonder it doesn't work. You need to run the updater on an installed version of TechTool on your boot drive.
