yes its false advertising (this aint your "buddy").

If i were to pay for something, its will be Proteus.

for freeware, Adium is good enough.
otherwise use the client of your IM provider ,i.e. MSN Msgr. Yahoo or iChat of which are all free even if they don't have all the features of what this jBuddy is offering

as of August 31, 2006, a free license is included. There are still some nudges to upgrade to the Pro edition and a small ad in the buddy list, but you can certainly get a flavor of JBuddy Messenger without fuss.
