It would really help us readers if you'd let us know what OS you're on, your ram, etc. That way we can know if you're pushing limits or if the version is just off.

That is unfortunate. I've used the program a couple of dozen times with spectacular results. OSX 10.39 and a PB TI550 and only 512M RAM [read: dinosaur]. I set it and go, and rarely does it take more than a few hours with several hundred block grid.
