Quicktime 7.0.4 severe problems - anqi_2k

I have the same problem. Whenever I try to open itune I got an error messenge "Newer version of quicktime needed". You don't need to uninstall the quicktime. Download the newest version here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
Install it and everything should go smoothly. Hope it helps.

Quicktime 7.0.4 severe problems - k5qm

When I load 7.0.4 it takes out my "D" and "E" drives which are my DVD and CD drives. The only way I can get the drives back is to restore to an earlier date. I need the program to be able to run CorelDraw 12. I use win XP Home. Any help appreciated geratly appreciated. E-mail me at k5qm@sbcglobal.net

Quicktime 7.0.4 severe problems - aspmac

I have the exact same problem. iTunes has been of no help yet, giving me the same old run-around solution of simply uninstalling both iTunes and Quicktime. It DOESN'T work. Has anyone found out HOW to uninstall Quicktime?

Quicktime 7.0.4 severe problems - cameronh

I bought the new Movie iPod over the weekend but couldn't install the new iTunes 7.0 to save my life. I tried EVERYTHING....Quicktime is where I had the most problems...none of these solutions have worked for me and have only created more problems. I returned the iPod...now I CANNOT get QuickTime to uninstall after trying EVERYTHING listed on this board. I'm ready to condemn my once beloved iTunes...does anyone have any suggestions for me? I drew the conclusion that the issue must be w/my computer...

Having trouble starting Itunes? Getting a hint that Quicktime is the root of the problem? Cant re-install Itunes because of a Quicktime error? Cant remove Quicktime for some reason?

Well I had that same problem. I spent a few hours dicking about trying to find a solution and then BAM I read about Windows Install Clean Up. It solves this nasty little proble and it takes like 2 minutes. I dumbed it down into 10 basic steps, and have included direct links,/u> for the... untechnical... : )

1. Download Windows Install Cleanup http://download.microsoft.com/download
2. Click 'Start' at the bottom lefthand corner of your screen.
3. Open the tab: 'All Programs'
4. Open 'Windows Install Clean Up'(it should be there)
5. Find Quicktime on the list of programs (if you can't find it keep looking, cuz its there); click it so that its highlighted in blue, then click the 'Remove' button
6. Click on any other programs that have Ipod or Itunes or Quicktime in the name, and Remove them as well.
7. Click 'Start' again, click on the 'Control Panel' tab. Click the 'Remove Programs' icon.
8. A list of programs will appear. Find Quicktime and anything referring to Quicktime, Itunes, or Ipod, and remove them.
9. Cleanout your recycle bin, restart your computer.
10. Re-install Itunes and Quicktime from www.apple.com/quicktime/download

At the end, i found one passage, which is a good tutorial about how to burn quicktime video to DVD in Google. I am so happy now!
