AppZapper uses Spotlight AFAIK to find relevent pieces. While I can't comment on the other apps [like Spring Cleaning], bear in mind that AppZapper really is an OS X app.

As to finding -everything- if you just wanted to deinstall iWeb from iLIfe 06, are you sure you'd want AppZapper taking ALL the /App support files? Even from the other iApps? I think these devs asked that question and chose wisely.

I'd probably like it if it used package receipts to 'deinstall' stuff, but this solution is elegant.

As to your 'defrag' comment, how cute / OS 9. Tiger defrags itself. Constantly. Didn't you know this?

You don't need a defragger on Tiger. That's just snake oil.
