After trying Entourage Sync Services last month, I now have a phobia of any sync related products. I have tried things from e2Sync, Microsoft (Sync Services & Entourage Conduit), and PocketMac. All of which either completely did not work, had severe limitations, corrupted my data, and in some cases locked up my Apple apps forcing a reset of all data.
Besides the severe sync limitations with Entourage Sync Services, my iCal was completely hosed, forcing me to reset to the factory default settings. Whether this particular problem had to do with Microsoft or Apple, I am not sure. All I know is that all my calendars disappearred from iCal. You can browse some forums for more info on this. I have found no way to get back the normal view without completely resetting iCal.
While this may have just been a fluke for me, the limitations on Sync Services are so severe (and originally undocumented from Microsoft), that I had to stop using it immediately. I can't imagine how someone would think it to be OK that all my categories in Entourage get synced in to a single calendar in iCal. I realize "categories" and "calendars" are different words in the English language, but anyone who has used thise programs for 3 days would realize how the end user must have them used interchangeably.
Anyone expecting similar results from Sync Services that they got from Paul's sync scripts will be sorely disappointed.
Will not be needed in a few months - miketall
