If I understand your needs, this is not for you. You'd be better off with Amadeus, Sound Studio etc.

This application is a software equivalent of a DAT recorder, and then some! If you work in film, TV or similar and want to transform your PowerBook into a professional field recorder, this software is both awesome and cheap!

yes, the price is certainly entry level! i'm not sure i understand anyone making recording (part of) their business, and then only accepting that a piece of quality hardware may have a price tag on it... must-have freeware and $25 shareware products are few and far between. This is because it takes a couple of person-years to develop a full featured quality product and people need to live! ;-)
