I don't know about that, but I tried the previous version which came out seriously after the WMV3 and WMV9 codecs, and it said it would handle all the WMP files.
Not only does it NOT work with any WMV3 or WMV9 files, on about 50% of the files I threw at it, that did play (these are files that will not play in the Mac WMP), 50% of them almost immediately unsync'd with the audio, and just got worse as the longer it played.
I don't know why a simple set of codecs for the Quicktime Player cannot be made (licensing and copyright issues? - and Microsoft saying "F YOU" to mac users twice again) but it's a codec like any other, and should be able to work just like the 12 or so others, including the AVI player I have...
This program is worthless if it cannot play the two main codecs unplayable by WMP.
