I think 8.0v2 was previously released on or around 16 Dec 2005 - themouse1

I too am confused. I downloaded the update from a few days ago. As you, I figure this one is newer for some reason. But - I attempted to update my already updated FileMaker v2 and was told I did not have v1 available for updating. I am left wondering what the difference might be.

DO NOT use the earlier 8.0v2 updater, it had a lot of problems, that's why it disappeared and there is now a new version. I am going to wait a bit before updating to this one, just in case (it's not the first time they have issued an update that was then hastily withdrawn).
If you did update using the 1st one, throw away your FM8 folder & re-install your 8.0v1 and then update using this v2.
