For people who know absolutely nothing about UNIX, you most likely have little use for this version of Java in the first place. Why are you trying to install it? Most of the people who have a need to make it the default are developers and users of very advanced applications. The average person can simply install it and then leave it alone. Only special applications that need version 1.5 will make use of it, and that's not something you need to even concern yourself with.
