AppleScript error message in 3.1 - langstraad

Turns out it was because the destination FireWire drive had "ignore permissions on this volume" turned on. :-)

This can also apparently be caused by trying to create an image with spaces in the filename. I was getting this error (and Ignore Permissions wasn't checked on the source volume) until I removed all spaces from the filename. If you have other weird characters (commas, etc), try taking them out and making a very generic filename with only alphanumeric chars to see if it works.

AppleScript error message in 3.1 - AppleTeck

I tried to change the file name and check that the "Ignore ownership on this volume" was not checked. However, I continue to receive an AppleScript error message. Any further suggestions?

Got the same message, spaces in the file name were the problem.

I had to write the image file to the boot volume to eliminate this error.

I got the same error: AppleScript Error Can't get item of {}. (-1728) I was trying to use NetRestore Helper to make an ASR image of an OS X Tiger install disk that I was going to "restore" on a Firewire drive partition. The Mac is a 2.7 Ghz dual G5 tower running OS 10.4.5. The disk is a purchased Tiger install disk (with a multi-user licencse). I Tried NetRestore, Disk Utility and CCC, but the partion would not fully boot, and the installer software gave an error message that it needed to be run from the original disk. Note: tried Toast 6, but got an error message saying that it couldn't create a disk image because files were open. This would happen even if I inserted the disk while Toast was running.
