Almost like the iChat Menu Extra - mark_aufflick

FYI I have added the buddy status feature, but there is currently a problem with the versiontracker system that is not letting me update the product page.

As for the option of hiding Skype, did you know that if you have Skype start automatically, you can tick the "Hide" box next to it in your user startup items list. That way when OSX starts Skype it will hide it for you.

One more thing, the ability to Command-drag to re-order the system menus is provided by an undocumented Apple internal API.

Some people did figure it out and used it in their products, then in OSX 10.3 Apple put a specific check in the API so it couldn't be used by non-Apple products! There is a hack to get around this, but it requires installing an extension and may well be broken again in the future.

This is a real pity since it's a really neat feature. Apple, however, are actively discouraging developers from making system menus - the "proper" way is to use the context menu on the dock icon which is way less convenient IMHO.
