That problem was the very reason I've stuck with the Epson drivers. You CAN install this set of drivers and the Epson too and switch over to the Epson driver when you need to clean the print heads, though. Not as elegant as just using one driver, but it gets the job done.

Ink Level Control can only with the driver for OS9.

This should be installed as part of the gurnprint package (sometimes missing with the 9pre-releases). If you run this utility in terminal, you can nozzle check, head clean, etc.
