OR you have a crappy modem. Wich happend to me... It was a Sagem F@ST modem that behaved fine when downloading but uploading would fry the damn thing and disconect me. My ISP said it was a flaw in the network and they would fix it but that was complete BS since my ZyXel would work fine (they said the 'fixed' the network but it still disconnects).
They just didnd want to admit the flaw in the modem bacause that would mean they had to recall all of them and replace them and that would cost them big bucks...
Try a differant modem, if it behaves fine then i sugest you get a new modem.
