SuperDuper can't compress with Tiger - mcgroarty_dotmac

"just because he didn't update a FAQ for an issue that no longer affects you (and in fact affects very few people overall)?"

It affects anyone running Tiger, which is quite a few people. And it still affects me in that I don't have the promised functionality (compressed backups) and need to consistently use a work-around instead.

I'm annoyed because the developer called me on the phone to talk at length about the problem, but still hasn't fixed it. Fixing the FAQ should have been a stop gap measure while he got on the horn with Apple and found a real solution. If he couldn't resolve it, the program shouldn't offer to do something by default (compressed backups) that the author knows it can't do with Tiger. Instead, he walked away once I retracted my negative review.

I switched to the Mac because I wanted a narrowly defined platform so I didn't have to deal with surprises when my hardware or OS differs slightly from the developers'. The author hasn't got a good excuse for his product to remain problematic with Tiger.

And you're right that I've slagged another product (PocketMac). I've added positive reviews of a few exceptional programs that better typify the Mac experience.
